About Kylah

Kylah is an organizer based in Chicago. Growing up in Rural Northern Michigan and moving to Chicago over a decade ago, she is a lifelong resident of Lake Michigan and a self-described Great Lakes Enthusiast. She has been organizing in Chicago for ten years, starting as a student organizer during her undergrad years at the University of Chicago, where she ran the campuses’ fossil fuel divestment campaign.

After graduating in 2016, Kylah quickly jumped into the electoral campaign world, working for candidates at the state, county, congressional, and municipal levels for three years, in roles ranging from field organizer where she knocked over 100 doors a day, up to campaign manager where she navigated endorsements, wrote speeches, and directed the candidate and campaign.

In 2019 Kylah began working at The People’s Lobby (TPL) as the Environmental Justice Organizer, where she led efforts to block an Illinois bill that would have made protesting a felony, and also worked in coalition to help pass the Clean Energy Jobs Act. In 2022, Kylah led TPL’s municipal election work to help elect Mayor Brandon Johnson and many others, running the endorsement process, working with electeds and staffers, and supporting a team of volunteer leaders. She also worked with TPL’s Northwest and Southwest Side teams, working closely with leaders.

Since spring of 2023, Kylah has been taking a breath to recharge, spending time with family and friends, and driving Marty crazy by not completing her R homework on time. While not organizing, you can find Kylah playing the banjo, taking her geriatric cat Kitra for walks, and getting yelled at by lifeguards at the beach.

Kylah now works for Cook County in the Bureau of Asset Management. While not organizing or working, you can find Kylah playing the banjo, taking her geriatric cat Kitra for walks, getting yelled at by lifeguards at the beach, and driving Marty crazy by not completing her R homework on time.
